Program
| The University
of Texas Medical Branch offers a
two or three year comprehensive training program in clinical Nephrology. The training
program is designed to prepare young physicians for careers in academic and clinical
Nephrology practice. During the two years of fellowship, the trainees get extensive
exposure to all forms of renal replacement therapies (i.e. hemodialysis, peritoneal
dialysis and transplantation), continuous renal replacement therapies, ICU nephrology,
fluid and electrolyte disorders, glomerular-tubular interstitial renal disorders. The
program mandates trainees to be proficient in common nephrology procedures such as native
kidney and allograft biopsies, temporary hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis catheter
placement. Opportunities to be involved in ongoing clinical and basic research are present
during the two years.
