Conferences and Didactic Teaching Sessions Conferences and Didactic Teaching Sessions - Residents currently receive instruction through a series of teaching conferences. These include: Morning Report - Daily at 9 am; required for all ward teams. Everyone welcome and many residents, interns, faculty and students attend. Considered by all to be our most rewarding conference. Intern Morning Report – Weekly; held Wednesday at 9 am. Similar to our regular morning report, but geared toward the learning style and needs of our interns. Topics are intern-driven. Facilitated by our future chief residents. Grand Rounds - Weekly, held Friday at 12:00 noon. UTMB and guest speakers present. Medicine faculty are occasionally called upon to give clinicopathologic conferences, in which they examine a case prepared by the chief residents. Noon Conference Series - (Monday through Thursday)
· Residents' Case conference - each resident presents one conference a year on a topic of his/her choice.
Lunch is provided for the housestaff at all Noon Conferences Journal Club - A General Medicine journal club is held each month at a local restaurant. All residents on the block ambulatory clinic rotation and the general medicine consultation rotation attend and two residents on the Team Leader rotation present recent articles selected by the chief residents. The group discusses the articles with a focus on critically evaluating the research methodology and findings with a faculty expert. In addition, many of the divisions in the Department have conferences that are attended by residents during their subspecialty rotations. Last modified: September 10, 2007 |
